Learning More About the R-22 Phase Out
There are so many things to take into consideration when making a new cooling system purchase. Do you want high-efficiency? Is your home a good candidate for a packaged system or a split system? One question that should definitely be on your radar is whether you should choose an R-22 compatible system or an R-410A compatible unit. In order to comply with the Montreal Protocol, the EPA has mandated that the production of R-22 should be gradually reduced by the year 2020. This means that equipment that uses R-22 refrigerant may come at a greater and greater cost as R-22 refrigerant becomes harder and harder to come by. As this transition occurs, R-410A equipment will become the new industry standard.
