New Westinghouse R8HE Is First Condensing Gas Pack
New heating and cooling system reaches 95% AFUE.
March 3, 2014 — Westinghouse HVAC introduces the first condensing gas/electric packaged system to the heating and cooling industry – the R8HE. This unit has a two-stage heating mode that reaches 95% AFUE, making it the first and only gas/electric packaged unit to offer this level of heating efficiency. Homeowners who have this unit installed in their home could experience a significant decrease in the amount of money they spend to heat their home during the winter.
While other gas/electric packaged systems may only top out at 81% AFUE, this unit reaches an unprecedented 95% AFUE. This is all due to the condensing operation of the unit made possible with a secondary heat exchanger. The condensate and flue gases exit the unit together, eliminating the concern that the condensate produced will freeze. In addition to the two-stage heating mode, this unit offers single-stage, 14-SEER cooling operation.
“Nothing is quite like the heating efficiency of this gas/electric packaged unit,” says David Garvin, product manager at Westinghouse. “This perpetuates Westinghouse heating and cooling’s tradition of expert product innovation.”
This gas/electric packaged unit includes additional features that add to its quality construction, including:
In addition to quality parts and innovative operation, this unit is backed by a 10-Year Limited All-Parts Warranty and Quality Pledge when the unit is registered.
